Hi, I’m Lynne.

I’m a writer and editor with experience in academic, trade, and educational publishing. I have a PhD from the University of Victoria, an Editing Certificate from Simon Fraser University, and have completed the Editors Canada Editing Essentials exam. I’m the author of two books and numerous articles, and a member of Editors Canada, Plain Language Association International, and the Editing Freelancers Association. I’m currently freelancing with a publishing house based in BC.

As an editor, I’ve worked on

• Academic papers: journal articles, grant proposals (SSHRC), dissertations, abstracts, plain language abstracts, slides and lecture notes, posters and conference material

• Academic monographs and co-authored books

• Non-fiction trade books

• Novels and memoirs

• Website content: bios, scholarly interests, research profiles

• Medical texts: clinic material, patient handbooks, brochures, educational material

I’m also an avid reader, and always on the lookout for new books and subjects to dive into.

I live outside of Toronto with two small kids and two enormous dogs, named Coco and Oona, who are terrible at spelling but otherwise quite good office assistants.
